MEET THE FACE BEHIND THE BRAND

Hi, I'm so glad you're here...let's get to know each other!

My name is Merissa, I am a 21-year-old freelance creative. I grew up on a farm and ranch in southwestern North Dakota, where my love for agriculture and photography first took root. If you're wondering where "Rockin' M" comes from, that is my cattle brand! My journey behind the lens started as a just a youngin'. I was a 4H kid with a big imagination, just playing around with my mom’s camera and entering photo exhibits at the county fair. I didn’t know it then, but that spark of curiosity would turn into a full-blown passion of mine down to road.

By the time I was 16, I started diving into camera settings and teaching myself how to take professional-quality photos. Like a lot of us self-taught creatives, it all began with fun shoots with friends and sharing my work on Facebook. I photographed just about anything and everything to get my work and name out there, and before I knew it, I was shooting my first solo wedding.

The vision for Rockin’ M shifted gears the day I discovered video production, and just like that, a new creative fire was lit in me. From weddings to music videos to livestock marketing, I LOVEEE making videos. As soon as I touched my first video project, I immediately threw myself into learning everything I could about audio/visual production. I saved up for the right gear, and started producing high-quality, professional video content. It’s truly become my life’s passion.

These days, I’m continuing to refine my craft about 300 miles southeast of home in Brookings, South Dakota, where I’m studying Agricultural Communications at South Dakota State University, with minors in Marketing, Advertising, and Digital Media (because why pick only one thing, right? :)

Establishing my brand came with plenty of challenges, but every late-night editing session, every client win, and every creative breakthrough made it clear to me that it was all worth it. My work has never felt like a job. It’s a passion God placed on my heart....to capture life’s most meaningful moments through the lens, from wedding day magic to family chaos and agricultural promotions... Rockin' M is geared up for client success. My style and goals are all about blending emotion, high energy, and powerful visuals to tell stories, drive sales, and turn your visions into a reality.

Whether it’s photo/video, audio, or design, I bring a wide range of creative skills to the table and love new projects and collaborations. While wedding films are my specialty, I’ve worked across the board in media production and absolutely love connecting with and meeting new folks all the time!
